Rationale
To maintain access to the Centennial Building, and ensure continued security of its assets Whitby Courthouse Theatre must undertake steps to secure rooms and other locked items.
Responsibilities
The President is responsible for the oversight and distribution of all keys and access codes, and an annual inventory of issued keys and codes.
Individuals who receive the privilege of keys are responsible to:
- Complete and fulfil the obligations of the Key Distribution Contract
- Never distribute, share, or makes copies of keys.
- Never share or disclose the access codes.
- Return keys as indicated on the Key Distribution Contract, or at the request of the President.
- Report any abuse of keys or entry codes to the President.
Failure to abide by this policy, or any conditions contained with the Key Distribution Contract may result in any of the following actions, which may be taken at the discretion of the President, the Board of Directors, or the Town of Whitby:
- Loss of privilege to have keys
- Loss of access code
- Charges for lost or stolen keys
Stolen or Lost Keys
If keys are lost, stolen, or not returned by the agreed upon date the following charges apply for replacement
- $75 per Abloy or Dimmer Pack key
- $5 per Standard, Padlock, or Filling Cabinet Key

Access to keys is a privilege. The President will issue them according to this list.
