Artistic Director Duties

The Artistic Director is responsible for the artistic vision of Whitby Courthouse Theatre in conjunction with the Board.

The Artistic Director is the chair of the Play Reading Committee, and Co-Chair for the Production Team Selection Committee. 

• Responsible for selecting future productions. Must outline their method for play selection to the Board for approval by the November Board meeting. The recommended slate is to be presented to the Board for approval no later than May.
• Contact the President to make enquiries for available rights. 
  

• With the Executive Producer, submit a call for production teams to the Information Technology Coordinator for distribution no later than January.
• With the Executive Producer, meet with the production teams of each show to review the Whitby Courthouse Theatre Production Handbook.
• Attend and support the directors at all auditions and call backs.
• Attend each productions’ first readthrough, dress rehearsal and other various rehearsals.
