EDUCATION PROGRAM APPLICATIONS

Whitby Courthouse Theatre is growing!

WCT invites local performing and technical artists to join, or return to, our stellar education team. We are looking for creative course visions for upcoming 8-week sessions for adults or youth. An honorarium is provided for all selected educators.

To apply, please complete the form below, attach your resume, and include a brief course description. If selected for an interview, you’ll have the opportunity to share a full course outline and detailed program plans.

Eligibility:

  • Teaching experience is preferred but not required.

  • A strong passion for theatre and community involvement is a must.

  • WCT is committed to fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment for all artists. As always, we encourage submissions from instructors of all backgrounds, ethnicities and gender identities.

  • October 28th – December 16th, 2026 (8 weeks) 

    Wednesday evenings 6-10 p.m. (Choose a 2 or 3-hour period in this time)

    (10-15 Participants)


    January 9th – February 27th, 2027 (8 Weeks) 

    Saturday mornings 9-11 a.m.

    (20-25 participants)


    January 15th – March 5th, 2027 (8 Weeks)

    Friday evenings 6-10 p.m. (Choose a 2 or 3-hour period in this time)

    (20-25 participants)

    April 3rd - May 15th, 2027 (7 Weeks)*

    Saturday mornings 9-11 a.m.

    (20-25 participants - youth only)

    *NOTE: This time slot is specifically for our WCT Kids and Teens Spring Education Program. There is a final performance for family and friends on May 15th in the evening.*


    April 6th - May 25th, 2027 (8 Weeks)

    Tuesday evenings 6-10 p.m. (Choose a 2 or 3-hour period in this time)

    (10-15 participants)

  • Youth program ratios are below. If applying for a youth program, please consider applying as a team to meet minimum supervision requirements. Individual applicants will also be considered but will be asked to work with additional educators to meet the supervision ratio. All applicants working with youth must have a valid Vulnerable Sector Check in accordance with WCT’s VSC policy.

    Youth Participant to Adult Ratio 

    Groups of children under 12 should have a maximum ratio of 10:1 

    Groups of children 12+ should have a maximum ratio of 15:1 

    No ratio for adult programs. Adult programs with 15 participants or fewer may only have 1 educator. Programs with 15-25 may have up to 2 educators.
